A senior researcher from DeepSeek warned about the potentially negative impact of artificial intelligence on human work and society, in one of the company’s few public appearances since its breakout success, according to Reuters. Chen Deli, the DeepSeek researcher, took the stage at the government-hosted World Internet Conference in the eastern city of Wuzhen on Friday. Chen said that, while AI could help humans in the short term, it could also cause job losses in the long term, and tech companies need to be aware of such risks. In the next 10 to 20 years, AI could take over human work and society could face a big challenge, Chen said, according to Reuters. DeepSeek became a global sensation in late January after it released R1, an open-sourced reasoning model with performance on par with OpenAI’s similar model at the time but trained at lower costs. Despite the success, DeepSeek executives have shunned the public spotlight. The last public appearance by DeepSeek was in early February, when CEO Liang Wenfeng, along with other business leaders such as Alibaba Group founder Jack Ma, was seen in a televised meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. DeepSeek in September unveiled an update to the V3 model, which first came out in December last year. The company has not released any new models since R1, while numerous AI model developers in #🇨🇳 ChinA.I. 🤖🧠🦾🤖 have been racing to launch their own open-sourced offerings throughout this year. https://www.reuters.com/w..
