Trump and Xi held talks on Thursday at the White House, and a major topic on the agenda was AI safety and governance.
The Chinese leader said “AI must be kept under human control,” according to a readout of the talks published by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Xi also said that the U.S. and China both have strong AI capabilities and “the right thing to do is to draw on each other’s strengths, not guard against each other.” The White House has not released any readout or details of the two leaders’ meeting on Thursday.
