DeepSeek continues to keep the world guessing on when its next major release will be.
Speculation swirled about potential launch dates for its next-generation V4 and R2 models, which would succeed V3, introduced in December 2024, and R1, which was released last January. DeepSeek declined to comment on reports that V4 would be released during the Lunar New Year in February.
Even OpenAI, which started the generative AI frenzy just over three years ago with its groundbreaking release of ChatGPT, was expecting something big.
In a blog post, OpenAI said another “seismic shock” from China could be on the cards.
