While Nvidia scrambles to assess the damage, Huawei Technologies is ready to pounce.
The Chinese company’s Ascend processors provide strong performance and ecosystem support in artificial intelligence (AI) computing, according to Gao Chengfei, director of consulting firm Tiaoyuan.
Huawei also recently launched a new AI infrastructure architecture that is reportedly set to rival Nvidia’s offerings in addressing computing power bottlenecks.
The CloudMatrix 384 Supernode was described as a “nuclear-level product” that matched Nvidia’s NVL72 system, Star Market Daily reported on Monday, citing unnamed sources from Huawei.
Huawei is said to be collaborating with Chinese AI infrastructure start-up SiliconFlow to use the CloudMatrix 384 Supernode to support DeepSeek’s R1 reasoning model. The move suggests that Huawei’s system, using Chinese-made chips, has achieved the performance of Nvidia’s H100 chips – which are unavailable in China due to US curbs
